Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data VECTRO ARCADE ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you visit and play, how we use it, and the rights you have. We are based in the United Kingdom and process personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Who we are
The site is operated by Red Volcano. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected]. This address is the contact point for data protection matters.
What we collect and why
| Data | Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Analytics data via Google Analytics 4 (e.g. pages viewed, games played, approximate location, device/browser type, a randomly assigned analytics identifier) | To understand which games are popular and improve the site | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — only collected if you accept analytics cookies |
| Leaderboard entries: a nickname you choose and your score/time for a game | To display global and daily leaderboards | Consent / our legitimate interest in running the leaderboard feature you chose to use |
| Your email address — only if you opt in to "score beaten" alerts | To email you if another player beats your high score | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — double opt-in; withdraw any time via the unsubscribe link |
| Locally stored game data (your scores, settings, progress) held in your browser via IndexedDB / localStorage | To remember your stats and preferences on your device | Strictly necessary — this is functional and never leaves your device unless you submit a score |
| Server and security logs (IP address, request time) held by our hosting and CDN providers | To deliver the site, prevent abuse, and keep it secure | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
We do not require your real name, email, or payment details to play, and we do not knowingly build advertising profiles about you. The only time we hold an email address is if you choose to opt in to score alerts (see below). We do not sell your personal data.
Analytics & consent
We use Google Analytics 4. Analytics cookies are off by default. When you first visit, our consent banner lets you accept or reject them, and we use Google Consent Mode v2 to honour your choice. You can change your decision at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
Google acts as a data processor for analytics data and may process it outside the UK; such transfers rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and Google's safeguards.
Leaderboards
If you submit a score to a global or daily leaderboard, the nickname you type and your score are stored on our server and shown publicly alongside other players. Please don't use your real name or anything identifying as a nickname. You can ask us to remove a leaderboard entry — email us with the nickname and game.
Score alert emails (optional)
After setting a high score you can choose to give us your email so we can tell you if someone later beats it. This is entirely optional. We use double opt-in: we first email you a confirmation link, and you are only added once you click it. Every alert email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time. We use your email only for these score alerts — we never sell it, share it for marketing, or send you anything else. We keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, after which it is removed.
Advertising
The site does not currently show third-party ads. If we introduce advertising in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent to any advertising cookies before they are used.
Who we share data with
- Google (Google Analytics) — analytics processor.
- DigitalOcean — hosting provider.
- Cloudflare — content delivery network and security/DDoS protection.
These providers process data on our behalf or as part of delivering the site. We do not otherwise share your data, except where required by law.
How long we keep data
Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months. Leaderboard entries are kept while the leaderboard for that game is active. Local game data stays on your device until you clear it. Server logs are rotated regularly by our providers.
Children
Our games are suitable for a general audience and may appeal to children. We do not knowingly collect more data than described here, and analytics is consent-based. If you are a parent or guardian and have a concern, contact us and we will help.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves (for example when leaderboards or advertising go live). We will revise the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes affecting consent, ask you again.
